Trailer Anaylsis - Monte Carlo

Monte Carlo is a romantic comedy. Catchy music starts of the trailer and conforms to a romantic comedy. A close up introduces us to the main character as she talks about her trip to Paris, there is then cross cutting as we are shown clips from her adventure. As they get to Paris the music changed and is more stereotypical of a comedy, this fits in with the fact that things start to go wrong for them. This is the disequilibrium. The pace of the trailer is fast which also conforms to a comedy as this adds chaos and humour. Match on action is used a lot as the same person plays to parts and as one walks out the room another one enters. There are a lot of over the shoulder shot between the boy and girl which shows them talking and getting along, this is typical for a romance. There are pans and tracks as the girl is rushing around the town and this makes the audience feel as though they are going with her. There are establishing shots and the music stops when there is a punch line, this conforms to comedy and emphasises the funny moments which will make the audience more interested in going to see it. The music then changes and it’s a song that was written by the main character, these are unique selling points of the film. This song is also the score of the film. its upbeat and this makes the audience feel happy. Titles appear throughout the trailer which show say ‘experience the adventure’, ‘live the dream’, ‘discover who you are’ this is followed by close ups of the main characters faces and their names below. The name of the film appears at the end of the film in light blue writing, this could appeal to both boys and girls. Montage editing is also used to create humour.
