There is no specific target audience for comedies and there is not usually an particular age range, its more of a personal opinion on whether the audience find that type of humour funny or not.
Women enjoy comedy's as usually there is a love interest, this person is usually allot more successful and out of the other person league, this adds humour as he tries his best to charm the girl. stereotypes usually appear allot in comedy's, this further intrigues a wider audience.
The main guy is not only after a girl out of his league but usually doesn't have things going well for him, he has many unpaid bills and not many prospects of a new job, this makes some people relate to the main character and empathise will them, the humour in the film makes all his problems seem less daunting and this makes the audience feel good and they can relate with them and have a sense of hope as he goes on his journey to become a hero.
