Inception
is directed by ‘Christopher Nolan’, this is the director of the ‘Dark Knight’
trilogy and there are similarities between them and inception, especially when
it comes to marketing.
As the
trailer starts there is a man standing in a room, this is Leonardo Dicaprio and
this is a unique selling point of the film and this will draw the audience in.
the room is very dark and this makes it appear mystical, this fits well as the
genre of the film is action, adventure and mystery. The colours signify negativity
and this sets a worried mood for the film which will grab the audience and
straight away have those wanting answers to questions.
There
is a close up of a spinning top and this shows its importance as its what the
audience focuses on. There is jumpy music that accompanies this and this puts
the audience on the edge of their seats, it sudden slow paced but as the
trailer goes on becomes faster paced what increases the tension.
The use
of special effects is shown from the very start of the film, a fan of this
genre will therefore be drawn in by this and will continue to watch the
trailer. There are a lot of establishing shots which showcase the special
effects and close ups of the main character.
There
are a lot of fades to black which allows many different clips from different
times and places are shown, this has the audience asking more question as they
are not sure what’s happening. So that the audience are not completely confused
by what they are seeing there is the main character talking about the plot of
the film, this makes it more interesting for the audience will therefore want
to go and see the film.
As the
music pace increase there are inter tiles which shown ‘the director of the Dark
Knight’ a unique selling point, it then appears with the name of the film which
is created out of a maze, this suits the film well as it’s all about feeling
lost and finding your way out. We could make our titles have a hidden meaning
in as well.
