THE DARK KNIGHT RISES TITLES
the titles for the dark knight are on a black background, this works well as they appear during the fades to black and this also allows the text to stand out well. the font is Helvetica Neue Black and this is very bold and clear to read. it is also written in capitals throughout which helps it stand out and give more of an impact for the audience. the writing is in silver, thislooks like metal and gives a cold/hard look which suits the genre of action as it does not look warm and welcoming. by being such a light colour also helps for it to stand and and looks very clear. the name of the film appears at the end and the colours have been swapped around, the background is silver and shows the well known batman symbol and the text is in black. this seperates it from the other titles and makes it clear that it is the name of the film. this is something that we could use in our trailer.
SKYFALL
for our trailer we plan to have a phone conversation that we would like the audience to play close attention to, therefore we dont want to use to many intertitles that will distract the audience from this. Sky fall does not have any intertitles and it just appears with the name of the film and when it is released at the end of the trailer. this is white text and all in capital letters againts a black background which really helps ot to stand out. this is simular to the dark knight rises and it has the 007 symbol under the title. we could have a logo or rememberable picture that can appear with our titles.
TAKEN
i have looked at the trailer for taken as it has the phone conversation and this is simular to our trailer. taken does not use many intertitles and this is somthing that we are going to do in our film. this trailer has the title of the film at the beggining of the trailer whereas we would prefer to put it at the end as the audience will watch the trailer, tension will be built and then they will find out the name of the film and will be more likely to remember it. it also comes up with well known actors and actresses at the end whereas this is something that we could use at the beggining of our trailer to draw the audience in and use it as a selling point. we like the font they use and like many other action trailers it it white/silver font on a black background. although the title of the film does not stand out as well as it does in the dark knight rises and it is the same and the intertitles and credits. we could change the font of colour for the title so that it stands out over the other text.
THE AVENGERS
these titles are really aimed at their target audience as the text looks like a comic book. it is on a black background and is also white. its all in capital letters to help it stand out. the text is not filled which suits the comic book style although for our trailer i think we will use filled in bold lettering so that it stands out a little bit more.
THOR
this text is also all in capitals and has a dark background with white font. the background behind sets the mood for the film uses bad weather as a way of letting the audience know there is trouble and this indicates the genre of the film. we could use this for our titles to make them more interesting. it also highlights the selling point of 3D. although the background and text is the same throughout the name of the film stands out more as it takes up more of the screen in a bigger font. this is something that we could do for our trailer.
