Action Trailer Analysis - The Amazing Spiderman

The amazing Spiderman is action/adventure/fantasy this film takes Spiderman right back to the beginning therefore there is already a large audience that are familiar with the films and that will be interested in seeing it. this also means that the trailer needs to impress as fans of the previous film would not be happy if it did not live up to expectations.

The trailer starts with an establishing shot of a city and a fade to black, there is music that starts building up in the background, this will build suspense for the audience. There is then a very quick clip of Spiderman; people will recognise this and this will build further excitement for the viewer. There is then a jump cut to a boy standing outside a girls window and she asks him how he got there as she lives high up the building, this gives the audience questions from the start and interreges them. There are lots of fades to black and the music increases in pace but the trailer doesn’t, I really like this as I feel like audience is just waiting for something to happen and for action to begin.

Cross cutting is also used as a way of building tension and there are lots of fades to black, we will defiantly use this in our trailer as it looks really effective. Flashbacks are used and show Spiderman as a child, for followers of previous films this will be really interesting as they will want to find out background information. When there is a flashback it goes to black and white, this shows that it is in the past. We could use this in our trailer. There are intertitles which say ‘his past was kept from him’ these create further questions for the audience. the fades to black continue and the pace of the trailer becomes faster.

There are a lot of special effects used and as we have a low budget we will be limited to what we can do.

At the end the Spiderman symbol appears followed by the title
