Magazine and Poster Research
the poster and magazine cover for the hobbit are interesteding because unlike other posters they do not match each other as well as other film posters and magazine covers. however the focus on features of the lord of the rings films and this will be recognisbale for the target audeince. the magazine cover, like others, is dark in the background and then has lighter bold writing of the film and this makes it stand out. there is the main character who is on the right hand side of the poster and in colour which also highlights his importance. in the background and the the left of the poster is another character that is well known for the lord of the rings films and this is another selling point. quotes from the film are also featured in the poster and this draws the audience in. The poster is landscape rather than portrait and this could be something that we consider for our poster. the name of the film is not featured in the poster but the long shot of the hobbit standing at the door is something that fans of the previous films will recognise and they will therefore be able to identify the film, this makes it more interesting and the focus is then put upon the release date. as our film is not part of a collection this is not something will will do for our poster as people will not be abel to identify the film.
