Magazine Cover Research

similar to other magazine covers that i have looked at the title of the film is across the middle and this makes it the main focus and stand out compared to other films that are advertised on the poster. there is a mid shot of the main character and he is in a suit holding a gun which would appeal to the target audience of action films. having a strong focus on the main character and the name of the film is something that we would like to incorporate into our magazine cover. the text is all in red and this could conote danger, this is also something that would be appealing to the target audience. special effects is also advertised by the way the text in the background is made to look as though it is moving and this makes it look very contemporary and more interesting. it also makes the text that is straight such as 'inception' further stand out. the background is black and white allowing the text to stand out as much as possible, this will catch peoples attention and even if they dont buy the magazine they will remember the name of the film.

the poster is well linked to the magazine cover, the colours are focused around black and red and the text is red and bold making it stand out. there is a long shot it it is not clear who the characters are in the poster, this works well as it gets the audience asking questions and allows them to focus on the special effects that feature in the film. the background highlights this as the city is seen to be turned upside down and this will grab the attention of the target audience. the name if the film is along the bottom and star names are highlighted by being placed at the top of the poster in bold white writing. this is a selling point of the film and will further interest the target audience.

magazine and poster research

Captain America

the captain america poster and magazine cover are well linked to each other, there is the American flag featured in both of them and there is a simular shot of the main character (captain America) on both the poster and magazine cover. this makes them easily recognisable and the target audience will therefore remember the film and will become interested in it and want to go and see it. on the magazine cover there is advertisment of other films and extras that are inside the magazine, this will make people want to buy it and they will therefore become more interested in the film. Captain America is in big writing across the front of the magazine and this is bold and white, and this makes it really stand out. it is in the middle of the magazine so it is the main focus and the name of the film is the first thing that people focus on. the colours are bright so this draws in the audience. on the poster other characters are featured in the picture but the main character is still the main focus, this is something that we will conform to for our poster and magazine cover. there is an expoltion around the main character and the colours and slightly more dull and characters are smaller and more faded into the background, this shows that they are important ut not the main focus. the text is similar to the magazine cover, its white and bold but is placed along the bottom of the poster along with the names and release date, this is effective as peoples interest is focussed around the expolition and this would be appealing to the target audience as they would want to see expolition and special effects in the film.

Poster Research - James Bond

At first this does not look like a filmposter as its not very bold and the name of the film is in very small text and not obvious to the audience. However due to the large followuing that the james bond films has it will be obvious to the target audience what film it is. The poster has an old/classic look which links to the idea of the film as it is going to back to the more traditional James Bond films. this is something that i will do when creating my poster as i will want the poster to refelect the mood/meaning of the film so that the audiece knows what to expect. the 007 is the only part of the poster that is in colour which shows the audience that it has importantce, this could also reflect that the bond films stand out over others. a long shot is used which allows the audience to see james bond and also the vintage car behind him which is something that will draw in the target audience as cars, guns and fight scenes is what they want to see in the film. this also allows london to be seen in the background and this could interest an american audience.

rule of thirds is used in this poster, the gun and james bond and are the main focus and the audience is drawn into this. directly below there is the sign saying 007 which also has a gun on and is the biggest text on the poster, this could be because it is the maain selling point. below this there is a more simple blue background that surrounds the name of the film, the gilrs on either side of him could be representative of the devil and angle as one is wearing white white connotes purity and innocnece and the other is wearing black so looks more sinister. this could represent how bond is tawn between his job and his desire. there is fire in the background which represents explotions that are associated with action films and would be what the audience would want to see.

Film Poster and magazine cover research

The Dark Knight

the poster is very dark in colour which makes the batman sign which is on fire, really stand out. we were thinking about incorporating fire into our title and if so we would do what has been done on the dark knight poster and make the background darker so it stands out. this also make batman appear more mysterious and therefore the audience want to find out more about it and in turn will want to go and see the film. the batman symbol is used twice in the poster which reinforces its importance and this will really grab the target audience. the release date is in the biggest font as its important for the audience to know when the film is going to be released. a low angle shot it used which makes batman appear more intimidating and we could used this in our film poster.

this poster is for the second dark knight film. there is alot more red and fire in the poster and this connotes more chaos which fits well with the fact that this is the second film and the drama has already arrupted. there is still the use of a low angle shot empowering batman and he is stood infront of the batman symbol in this poster which shows the audience thathe is now the main focud and thatthe target audience willrecognise him as batman and not just the symbol. the layout is simular in both posters, it has a quote at the top which gives away a small amount of what the film is about and interests the audience, there is then below the names of actors film and release date.this is the type of layout we would hope to create in our poster.

the magazine cover for the dark knight is very clever as it has released two different photos for the same magazine. this means that big batm,an fans will most likely want both copies, one of batman and one of bane and will therefore pay twice as much for the same content but a different cover. batman and bane are the main focus in this magazine cover and they are infront of some of the text which makes it appear as though they are standing out from the magazine, which is exciting to the audience as it feels like they are coming to life. the dark knight rises is in extremely large font in the bottom left hand side of the magazune and because there is alot going on in the bacground this text has been made white and very bold so it still stands out. the batman logo is still used on the magazine but the main interest is focused on the characters.
