Action Trailer Analysis - Transformers

As the trailer starts there is music in the background that creates tension. There is a close up of the main character so that the audience become familiar with him. as the trailer continues there is a narrative that tells a little bit about the story and the relationship between the main character and the car. there is a long shot that allows the audience to see this. There are fades to black and the tittles appear quickly on the screen and flicker, this adds further tension to the audience. after the titles the music stops and there are jump cuts of different parts of the film, all of these clips fade to black quickly. there are lots of explosions at the begging which tells the audience from the beginning that it is going to be an action film. there are lots of high and low Angle shots which establish authority in the trailer. this allows the audience to know more about the characters. inter titles appear throughout the trailer, showing the audience when the film will be and making them more excited with phrases such as 'most have come to destroy us', 'some have come to protect us' the music builds up again towards the end of the trailer, this adds to the audience excitement of the film and the music becomes more fast paced towards the end, this builds further excitement towards the end, this will grab the audience and make them remember the film. the clips are also very short which adds to the faced paced trailer, this is stereotypical of an action trailer.

Action Trailer Analysis - Mission Impossible 4

As the trailer starts there are small clips that are broken up by fades to black. again like may other action trailers there is a voice that explains the basic plot of the film. at the begging there is a mix of fast paced and slow paced clips, this gets the audience on the edge of their seat. as the trailer goes on the music becomes faster and there is heavy base music which makes the trailer seem very dramatic. the characters are surrounded by nice cars and women and they are smartly dressed. due to the plot of our film we do not thing we will need to show flashy cars and women but the way that the men dress will reflect their character. the bad guys are in basic black clothing showing that they are trouble and that they have a rough interior and exterior, whereas the good guy is in a smart suit showing that he is not just violent but also educated and clever is the way he acts, this is something that we would incorporate in our trailer. the fades to black become longer and text appears say 'this december' this gets people excited about the film and lets them know when it is so they are more likely going to go and see it. there are lots of establishing shots which show action scenes and also the amazing setting that its filmed on, this also interests the audience. there are close ups of the different characters faces which allow the audience to become familiar with the different stereotypes in the film, there are also two shots and over the shoulder shots which further develops the relationships between the characters, this lets the audience know a little bit more and makes them become interested in the plot.

Action Trailer Analysis - Skyfall

As soon as the clip starts its fast paced, there is loud jumpy music which grabs the audiences attention and the clips are short and snappy and there are fades to black used. The institution names then appear and this is a small break for the audience to take it all in. there are the stereotypical cars and gadgets shown in the clip and this is something we could try to incorporate but due to budget we would do this on a smaller scale. as many other trailers the basic plot is described while other clips are shown, this is something that we are looking to do in our trailer. there is fast paced music in the background which add tension for the audience. there is a mix of slow and fast paced clips incorporated in the trailer, this allows the plot to be explained and then shows the action, it also makes the action clips have more of an impact and the make the audience jump and one minuet the audience is calm and next on the edge of their seats. as these faced paced clips are included they quickly fade to black and this makes the audience more interested as they want to find out what happens. there are lots of establishing shots and the places they are set are usually busy streets of London and the underground, or rooms filled with technology. there are lots of two shots which establish relationships between characters and high and low angle shots which show who has authority, this is something that is very important in action films. towards the end if the trailer is becomes extremely faced based and there are lots of gun shots and explosions, due to our low budget we would not be able to do this but we would include the fast paced fight scenes towards the end of our trailer. the stereotypical car chase is also included and get this effect by having close ups on steering wheel and gear changing. we could also get someone to drive past us quickly as we film, we would not be able to use extremely expensive cars as it shows in the film but we could try and find the best possible car for this. the music becomes very fast towards the end and also becomes louder, as this happens there is no longer any conversation as this slows down the pace of the film, it focuses on gun shots and face paced music. as the clip ends it fades to black and the name of the film comes up in white writing. this makes it stand out and people will remember the name of the film so that they will go and see it.

Action Trailer Analysis - Taken

Taken genre is action. As the clip starts you are introduced to the main characters, they are shown to be happy and living the average persons life and celebrating her birthday.there is quick movement in the clip and a faint humming sound in the background. it is not very loud as its important to hear the narrative as it explains the basis of the film. there are fades to black and as the clip progresses it becomes faster paced. throughout the clip it shows flashes of clips and close ups of the characters face, this shows fear and anxiety in their faces which allows the audience to empathise with them and feel involved in the clip. the trailer also shows two clips at the same time this allows people to see the action going on in the trailer but also see people talking on the phone and explaining the plot, this is a very clever way of having both aspects included in the trailer and this is something that we could incorporate in ours. furthermore this makes it seem as though there is a lot going on and this conforms to an action film as nothing is slow paced and relaxed. the music changes through the clip, the humming sound stops and a piano is played, it becomes faster and louder which adds the chaos of the trailer. a phone conversation takes place and there are clips that are added in and faded to black throughout this phone conversation, we could use this in our trailer and could have a phone conversation going on while we show other fight scenes. so that it is more interesting we could also show two clips at the same time. there are only small amounts of fight scenes shown and this makes the audience more interested and want to go and see the film so they can find out what happens next. the small clips of fighting sometimes freeze and go to black and white, this makes it more interesting and we could use this in our trailer. the sounds in the background become louder as the clip progresses. explosions are shown in the trailer although this would be difficult for us to achieve at such a low budget. as the trailer ends it fades to black and then the name of the film 'Taken' appears, this is in black writing and therefore really stands out. as names of directors and producers appear there is heavy breathing in the background, this is disturbing to the audience and also conforms to the genre.
